Denton Corker Marshall have been announced as the winner of the UTS Broadway Building Design Competition in Sydney, Australia.
The practice’s winning proposal, along with those of the Stage 2 finalists and Stage 1 concept designs, will be published on the competition’s website on August 17, 2009.
The competition attracted a host of internationally acclaimed practices, like DRAW/BIG, Candalepas Associates/Miralles Tagliabue, and Terroir/ Foreign Office Architects to name a few. Seven Australian made it into Stage 2 of the competition, forming six teams: Bates Smart, BVN Architecture, Cox Richardson, Denton Corker Marshall, Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp, and Lacoste Stephenson + Daryl Jackson Robin Dyke.
According to the competition organizers, the Broadway Building, the gateway to UTS’ City Campus, will be a vital part of the redefinition of the southern approach to the Sydney CBD. The competition was open to all registered Australian architects, and was conducted in two stages.
