The proposal by Rotterdam-based firm MoederscheimMoonen Architects has recently won the architectural competition for the new community center ‘Het Anker’ in Zwolle, The Netherlands. The commission results from an invited competition which also comprised the offices Koppert + Koenis Architecten, broekbakema, Jeanne Dekkers Architectuur, and BDG Architecten.

The new building will include a multi-purpose sports hall for diverse sport activities and educational purposes, a community center, and diverse multifunctional areas. The design  for the competition expresses the first ideas and intentions for a sustainable, transparent and green ‘landscaped’ building.

The architects will work together with the client and the different tenants towards a final design in the forthcoming months. The start of the execution of the building is planned for 2014.
