RSI-studio has won the category of Best Commissioned Architectural Image in the 2013 CGArchitect Architectural 3D Awards. The prize, which is part of the annual competition hosted by CGArchitect, recognized the best in 3D architectural images for 2012-2013.
The images were created by RSI-studios (Real, Symbolic, Imaginary), a design agency in Paris founded by Matthieu Blancher and Gael Nys in 2007. The studio specializes in 3D architectural visualization and architectural films. For each rendering, the studio develops a comprehensive 3D model of the scene that enables computer-generated images to easily integrate with high-definition photographs of urban or landscape settings. The model includes not only the structure and its environment, but also other details like climate, materials, and figures. Afterward the studio applies techniques similar to those used in large-format photography, giving an overall frontal composition to the image. The finished result is a stunning and realistic photography-like diorama of the architecture, as seen above.
RSI Studio has received commissions with French and international firms. Recent collaborations include MVRDV, BIG, Publicis Groupe, and photographer Julien Lanoo.
