Sou Fujimoto among winners for Liget Budapest museum competition

House of Hungarian Music: Sou Fujimoto Architects

The winning architects for the Liget Budapest museum competition were finally chosen (or at least most of them were). As Hungary's first open, international competition in the past century, Liget Budapest found three winning proposals for the Museum of Ethnography; the House of Hungarian Music; the FotoMuzeum Budapest and the Hungarian House of Architecture. As for the fourth building, the New National Gallery and Ludwig Museum, the jury has yet to select the best suitable proposal.

Starting from nearly 500 anonymous submissions, only 17 advanced to the second round before the jury selected the winning proposals. They are:

  • House of Hungarian Music: Sou Fujimoto Architects (Japan)
  • Museum of Ethnography: Vallet de Martinis DIID architectes (France)
  • FotoMuzeum Budapest and the Hungarian Museum of Architecture: Középülettervező Zártkörűen Működő Részvénytársaság (Hungary)

Check out the winning proposals below.
