Stockholm Library Competition Winners Announced

Heike Hanada, a female architect from Germany, has been announced the winner of the 6,000+ submission international competition to design and expansion to Gunnar Asplund’s Stockholm City Library. Her entry, titled “Delphinium”, was described by the jury’s official statement as “a skillfully executed proposal—delicate, bright and with the quality of a new icon. It will make an exceptionally beautiful addition to Stockholm architecture.’‘
Hanada, born in Hoya, Germany, in 1964, current runs her practice out of Weimar, Berlin, and Tokyo. Images of the winning project, and other winners can be seen below…
