2011 Intelligent Green Building Design Competition

Theme

Intelligent green building design is the main theme of this year. There are two divisions for this competition:

Division A: Creative Thinking

For depicting an insight into the problems in our daily life and exploring human needs in safety, healthcare, energy conservation, sustainability, and convenience, participants may provide posters, scenario films or models to present the high quality living spaces and life conditions of intelligent green buildings through the innovative ideas of a living space, products or services. The applications of modern technologies in area of information, communication, sensor and automatic control and their compatibility with environment should be considered.

Division B: Toward Future Home

Based on profound understanding of environment, social structure, and lifestyle changes, e.g. climate change, aging society, participants may provide posters, 3D animations or models to present an architectural planning and design project which applies intelligent high technology, materials, and products to an existing or new building. The project should adopt design principles of both intelligent building and green building in order to reach the purposes of safety, health, convenience, comfort, and environmental sustainability.

Qualification and Registration Procedure

I. Either individual or teamwork participants (organization) are welcomed to attend this competition.

II. Counterfeiting or plagiarism is not allowed. Any participants’ work that violates this rule will be disqualified, revoked prizes and announced it in public. In the event of plagiarism, participants will be held responsible for any loss of rights and/or interests by third parties and must accept all legal liability.

III. Either a new building design, or an existing building refurbishment, with intelligent green building design is acceptable for Division B participants.

IV. For foreign participants attendance please go to http://design.ils.org.tw/english , download the registration form, complete it and e-mail to [email protected].

V. Participants can submit more than one works, but please complete each registration individually.

Evaluation

I. Procedure:

1. PhaseⅠ:The Committee will choose 10 candidates for divisions A and B respectively, to enter PhaseⅡ after evaluating participants’ posters and concept descriptions.



2. PhaseⅡ:The Committee will evaluate the participant’s short film, model, or 3D animation through the presentation (PowerPoint/Performance etc.) in 10 minutes. Then select each winner of Gold Medal, Silver Medal, Bronze Medal, 2 winners of Masterpiece, and 5 Nominees for divisions A and B, respectively.



PS. For foreign participants, who are unable to attend the PhaseⅡevaluation, please attend by video conference or submit the presentation film in 10 minutes.

Evaluation Criterion: The appraisal criterion is divided into four main categories: creativity, humanity concern, feasibility and sustainability. Each category accounts to one fourth of the total score.

3. According to local tax rules, award income will be subtracted 20% income tax.
