Emerging Architects, designers and advanced students are invited to design and construct a gift shop for the Anton Art Center in Downtown Mount Clemens.

ABOUT THE ANTON ART CENTER
The Anton Art Center is a non-profit, multi-disciplinary arts services center committed to the advancement of the arts through quality exhibitions, advocacy and educational programs for Macomb County and its environs.

Founded in 1969 in an historic Andrew Carnegie Library building, the center underwent renovation and expansion in 2006.  The contemporary cinderblock and glass addition that will house the gift shop is contiguous to the historic Carnegie library building, with interior access to one another but architecturally separated to maintain the Carnegie building’s historical integrity.

The gift shop will be located in a fully accessible, barrier free area.  It will be situated so that every art center visitor (30,000 annually) will have to pass through it on the way in and out of the center.  Our policy of free admission to all, coupled with our location in downtown Mount Clemens, ensures that we serve a diverse clientele.  We are therefore able to expose area artists to visitors from all backgrounds.  The professionally designed and site specific gift shop will raise the profile of Michigan artists, support the high quality of their work and prove their worthiness as Michigan’s finest artists.
