INVITATION

"In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
In my personal name and in the name of the Islamic Community of the republic of Kosovo, I am pleased to announce the “International Architecture Competition for the Central Mosque of Prishtina”.
Being very grateful to Allah, we the Islamic Community and all the Muslims of Kosovo are proud to continue the tradition of building Mosques after a long discontinuity period of intolerance and repression.
The need of a place of worship is historically a natural human need. The Mosque is a worshipping place of multidimensional function, organizing society in education and civilization to a higher level of human moral and conduct.
Building of the Central Mosque in the capital of our new born country is an aspiration, a desire and great need of all of Muslims in Kosovo.
This Mosque shall be a place where understanding, humanity, tolerance, respect and sincere love shall be cultivated and where enlightening values shall be brought forward.
The excellent “Great Mosque of Prishtina” as it is called by the people in the city, the "Sultan Mehmed II the Conqueror" mosque, has the central role in the city of Prishtina, which role is meant to carry the new Central Mosque of Prishtina. By this I want to emphasize the significance of this project which shall result to a brilliant building and stand the test of time, a building that will give honor to our city and its people.
We expect a continuation of our peoples cultural values expressed as an alignment of tradition and contemporary values.
Hereby we invite every inspired professional who is ready to except the challenge of this great project and put a landmark in Kosovo, to take part in this Design Competition."

Over a 1,000 years the Serbian people built 1,500 Christian churches and monasteries. After the Battle of Kosovo in 1389 it took over 300 years for Muslims to build their first mosque in Kosovo. In the past 9 years Albanian goons, thugs and terrorists destroyed 515 Serbian churches. Therefore, your words of "humanity, tolerance, respect and sincere love" ring hollow as Serbian Orthodox Churches required armed NATO guards to keep you and your ilk from blowing them up.
