Announcement of selection
The announcement aims at the selection of 12 candidates who will take part in a workshop on architectural design on scale 1:1 as a highly motivated, passionate and proficient group. The CAMPOSAZ workshop will take place from 28th August to 06th September 2015 in an area of great landscape value at the feet of the Dolomites.
CAMPOSAZ consists in a free workshop aiming at designing and selfbuilding architectural objects for a landscape enhancement. It is targeted to young architects, landscape architects and designers for the purpose of gathering the processes of design and practical realization of
the projects in a residential group. During the CAMPOSAZ week the participants will ideate and create wood manufactures, following the thematic suggestions provided by the organizers and developing ecofriendly, practical and sustainable design and realization approaches.
The theme of this edition will focus on the redevelopment of a former rural area abandoned. The stages of the intervention consist in the recovery of the area by cleaning the vegetation and remodeling the ancient terraced areas for crops. Within the area it will also be provided a small viewing platform with the functions of a stopping point and tool shed .
Aims of the workshop CAMPOSAZ
The CAMPOSAZ workshop is aimed:
1) to encourage the interaction among professionals such as designers, architects, landscape architects and local carpenters facilitating the spreading of a collaborative working environment among different professions and cultures;
2) to focus public attention on the value of the landscape and its specific features for the wise management of its transformations.
Organizing institutions
Camposaz Dolomiti is organized and coordinated by the working group named Collettivo Camposaz and supported locally by the cultural association Aguaz.

Terms of participation
Architects and designers of age between 19 and 35 years old, with no sex or nationality constraints, may participate. Although not being a binding requirement, a basic knowledge of English may be beneficial, in order to facilitate communication and ideas exchange with non-Italian speakers.
The security deposit
Once selected participants will be required the payment of a security deposit which amounts to 50,00 Euro. The deposit will be refunded at the end of the workshop.
Selection criteria
Participants will be selected by a jury comprised of three members of the Collettivo Camposaz.
Selection criteria will be:
- the quality of the ”Reference Project”: 7 points
- the quality of the ”Motivation Letter” (see allegato1.doc): 3 points
The list of participants will be communicated by the 13th August 2015. By submitting the application form the candidates will undertake to agree with the decision of the jury.
Required documents
Participants must send a pdf file on a single sheet of A4 outlining a project they created though not built. Will be taken into account: small-scale architectural projects , design objects or wood construction , projects /objects capable of interacting with the landscape .
The A4 prospectus will show the candidate’s designing skills, his/her sensibility towards the landscape, his/her knowledge of the building systems and his/her ability to illustrate the project. Participants will be free to choose the content, the presentation methods (sketches, technical drawings, photographs, models, renders, texts) and the layout.
Attachment 1.doc file filled with the candidate data and the Motivation Letter.
The Motivation Letter consists in a brief essay (max. 200 words), written by the candidate, which illustrates his/her motivation to attend the workshop, any work or study experiences in multidisciplinary environments, his/her expectations and personal interest in the specific field of this announcement.
Deadline and submission procedure
The candidates will submit by e-mail the pdf file containing the reference project and the Attachment 1.doc form conveniently filled, to [email protected] by noon on 10th August 2015. The e-mail subject will be “CAMPOSAZ DOLOMITI 2015 participation”, followed by the NAME and the SURNAME of the candidate.
Carrying out of the workshop
Participants will set up a campsite in an area selected by the organizers which will be their accommodation during the workshop. Participants will be in charge of preparing their own meals. A special camp kitchen and the necessary groceries will be provided. The organizers will arrange a “workshop tent” with drawing boards and electricity.
Additional drawing tools, deemed useful by the participants, will be freely allowed but not provided by the organization . It is not recommended the use of any digital media for drawing.During the design phase the participants may be divided into different working groups, each one will focus one of the issues of the intervention.
In the next phase of self-construction materials and equipment will be provided by the organization. In particular, the construction materials will be made available in standard sizes and quantities defined with precision. It will be up to the skill of the design team is able to optimize the best possible resources available to them. For this reason , since the design stage, it will be supplied to the various groups a list of the available materials for construction.
Useful information
Notice is hereby given to aspiring participants of Camposaz Dolomiti 2015 that the project area used to house the operation is on a steep slope on average place in the northeast of the town of Siror . The area is a bit impervious and not easily accessible to everybody.
In addition, some of the operations to be performed in the site, such as the cleaning of the vegetation or the restoration of terraced spaces by means of the reshaping of the terrain, will require physical effort as well as good balance capacity and of movement on steep slopes.
