The Canadian Canoe Museum tells the story of the building of Canada from original colonization by indigenous peoples through the present day through the medium of the canoe and other paddled watercraft. This highly rated, not for profit museum is planning to build a new museum of approximately 7,500 square meters on a Parks Canada national historic site - the Peterborough Lift Lock. The proposed museum includes exhibition and conference space as well as restaurant, bar and café as well as artisan workshops and on water programming.
The Request for Qualifications will allow CCM to select three to five proponents to develop a concept design for the new museum for which they will receive a fixed fee on completion of the submission. The winning design will be awarded the design work for the new museum.
