The FIVE Design Challenge is an annual five-week-long ideas competition calling on local & international thinkers from any discipline to generate creative ideas for solving real challenges facing mid-size US cities. Cincinnati, Ohio is used as a case study for exploring uses for the underutilized urban spaces that every city has.
How does a five week competition work?
The FIVE brief & website contain contextual information and give a background for the challenge. As of March 22, five site options are available to view and choose from, the jury has been revealed, and a “prompt” has been provided to spark ideas.
As a five-week-long exercise for creative minds from all industries, submissions should be kept loose. Drawings should be less concerned with accurate context documentation and more on thought provoking concepts.
