Graphisoft Architectural Design Competition

Graphisoft is currently accepting submissions for its 2007 Architectural Design Competition. Submissions can be of a building, space, or object from either professional or student-related work.

Competition Prizes
The 1st prize is one month in Mexico, working for Michel Rojkind, in the summer of 2008. The winner will have his/ her flights and accommodation paid and, in addition, will receive a living allowance. The winner will also receive an Apple Intel PC, a commercial version of ArchiCAD, + upgrades for one year.

The 2nd prize is an Apple Intel PC with a commercial version of ArchiCAD, + upgrades for one year.

The 3rd prize is a commercial version of ArchiCAD, + upgrades for one year.

In addition a prize will be awarded to the best submission by a student in architectural years 1, 2, 3 – providing they are not the winner of one of the three main prizes.

Competition Submissions
Entries are sought for a scheme for a building, space or object and may either be an independent project or part of your coursework. The prize will be awarded for the most exceptional piece of work. The quality of the design, the model, the overall presentation, imagination and interpretation of brief will all be taken into account.

  • Submission must be a 3D model in ArchiCAD .pln format on CD/ DVD.
  • Entrants must list all software used.
  • The submission must be accompanied by 2D sheets to explain the entry (maximum 1# at A0 or 2# at A1 or 4# at A2 etc.). These should in a layout book within the pln.
  • Submission must include a minimum of one detail of the scheme.
  • Submission may also be accompanied by a CD/ DVD with light studies, movies, environmental analysis, etc.
  • Submissions should include a briefing document for the project.
  • A submission must be the work only of the submitter, i.e., group or collaborative work is not permitted.

All submissions must be received by Graphisoft, by 18.00, Friday November 30th 2007. Graphisoft will confirm to the submitter, by email, receipt of a submission.

The judges for this competition are:
Michel Rojkind – Principal, Rojkind Arquitectos, Mexico City.
Benedict Wallbank – Director, John Robertson Architects, London.
Neil Spiller – Professor in Architecture and Digital Theory, University College London.
Jeremy Melvin – Architectural Historian and Consultant to the Royal Academy of Arts Architecture Programme.
