“The Organizing Committee of Expo 2012 Yeosu, Korea” is announcing an open/invited, single-stage international architectural competition for the Thematic Pavilion of the Expo 2012 Yeosu, Korea.

The Expo 2012 Yeosu, Korea will be held from 12 May 2012 to 12 August 2012, under the theme of “The Living Ocean and Coast: Diversity of Resources and Sustainable Activities.” The ocean, the origin of life and breeding ground of living organisms of the Earth, is what we ought to preserve and treasure. Faced with threats such as social conflict, global warming, energy depletion and degradation of natural environment, we are on the threshold to seek practical solutions from the oceans. The theme of the Expo 2012 Yeosu will raise people’s awareness about the values of oceans and the critical environmental issues to suggest a new ocean vision for the future generation.

To host the most successful world Expo ever, the Organizing Committee of the Expo 2012 Yeosu, Korea has organized the international competition to call innovative designs for the Thematic Pavilion from all around the world. The Thematic Pavilion of the Expo 2012 Yeosu, one of the major facilities of the Expo, will be the centerpiece of the Expo site and it will acclaim the organizing committee’s efforts in realizing the theme of the Expo.

The organizing committee of the Expo 2012 Yeosu, Korea seeks an excellent and initiative design for the Thematic Pavilion that will bring the Expo to a refined event and increase the reputation of Korean architectural work. The competition Jury will review all submissions and select six(6) entries and the 1st Prize winner will be awarded KRW 100,000,000 and commissioned to undertake the detailed design development and execution of the design.
