To mark the 25th anniversary of the prestigious European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture - Mies van der Rohe Award, the Fundació Mies van der Rohe has launched together with Vueling Airlines, the first edition of the Linking Europe Competition, open to students of architecture, engineering, design and art in Europe. This competition invites participants to apply their creative talents in developing graphic proposals to personalize a Vueling-Mies plane, reflecting on the objectives of Vueling Airlines and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe.
The Linking Europe Competition aims to disseminate the creations of students that rarely have the opportunity to know in a holistic way the reality of how the practice is taught and experienced throughout the continent. The core of the program will be a register of proposals that will be presented through the website www.linkingeuropecompetition.
The competition is open to students of architecture, engineering, design and art. The Linking Europe Competition will serve as a platform that will disseminate student creativity and will reveal the potential of these future professionals at the same time as it supports their careers from the first moment.
The Jury will be composed of renowned personalities in the fields of aviation and creation: architecture, design, advertising and film making, and whose names will be announced during the process.
A Committee of Experts from the fields of architecture, design and communication will make a shortlist of the registered creations which will be discussed by the International Jury. Five finalists will be chosen and one of them will be the winner of the competition. The proposal will be used to customize the exterior of a Vueling Airlines plane that will operate from 30 May to 31 December 2013.
The Jury will evaluate the following aspects:
- Consistency with the objectives of the competition
