Magda Cordell McHale (SUNY-Buffalo, 1978-99) and John McHale were among the founders of the Independent Group, the British movement that grew out of a fascination with American mass culture and post-WWII technologies. In celebration of this legacy, the McHale Fellowship is intended to support design work that involves speculation on the impact of new technologies on architecture.

Applicants should include a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, portfolio (not to exceed 9.5"x12”), and names of three references. Fellowship applicants should also send a brief proposal for research/creative work. These fellowships intend to integrate teaching (studio, seminar) with academic creative activity and research.

Current McHale Fellow: Sheila Kennedy
