Now in its 10th year, New Practices New York is a biennial, juried portfolio competition organized by the New Practices Committee of the AIA New York Chapter and sponsored by Cosentino, the global leader in natural stone, quartz, and architectural surfacing. The competition identifies firms with unique and innovative strategies in both projects and practices. Architecture and design firms founded since 2006 and located within the five boroughs of New York City are encouraged to submit a practice narrative and a mini-portfolio of built, un-built, and/or theoretical work. This year’s theme, “Prospect,” centers around the questions: How are new firms shaping their practice around the prospect of the future? What are the most important challenges they see facing the City over the next three months and in thirty years? What will they focus on? Where are they headed? How will they thrive?
