Calling all participants!
We all know that design is a powerful, effective and often under-utilized tool in addressing the complexities of contested spaces. Our first Design Action will address the public-private threshold of the last remaining abortion clinic in Mississippi. Private Choices, Public Spaces takes on this highly nuanced interface to illuminate the spatial implications of access to reproductive health care and the role design can play in expanding the conversation.
ArchiteXX design actions put our values on the profession into practice. Critical of the exploitative nature of conventional design competitions, the project is framed as an open-collaborative think-tank. We foreground dialogue and collaboration rather than competition to execute our goals.
For the first phase, we want to collect 500 postcards, so we need as many people as possible to submit a postcard and spread the word to make this project a success! The postcards must be posted by August 30 and will be exhibited at The New School this September. They will frame a series of conversations around the issues and design charrettes for the final installation in Mississippi.
Please share in a practice of active citizenship by participating, supporting and sending the call out to others! Let's demonstrate how design can enable dialogue in contested spaces. Find out more at our website: www.architexx.org
