Prologis, Inc., the leading global owner, operator and developer of industrial real estate, today launches a competition for architects to design the logistics building of the future.
The Prologis 2030 Design competition will award €20,000 to the three winners, as judged by a panel of international companies, which will be customers of Prologis, as well as a number of well-known architects and logistics experts.
Logistics buildings are technically highly sophisticated. From an architectural point of view, they are cutting edge, given that in the foreseeable future communities’ and people’s requirements will change in terms of location and functionality, structural and aesthetic design. It will become increasingly important to develop logistics facilities near major conurbations.
With the aim of encouraging architectural designs for logistics buildings that point the way ahead, Prologis is calling on architects and engineers to produce innovative, futuristic and realistic designs for this particular type of building in a fictional location. Students at faculties of architecture and civil engineering are also eligible to participate.
To be eligible for the competition participants must be based in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Norway or Austria.
The award-winning works and a press conference will take place on 7 October 2014 at the Prologis stand during Expo Real 2014 in Munich from 6 to 8 October 2014.
Prologis reserves the right to use one or more of the award-winning designs as the basis for new logistics buildings and to commission the originator with the planning work.
