P.O.R.T.S. is being presented to the public to allow everyone a voice in saying how 600 acres of pristine marshes, wetlands and woods located on the Cape Fear River can be used instead of as an international container port.  NO PORT Southport NC, Inc. is a grassroots organization formed in April 2008 with the sole purpose of stopping the proposed port at Southport, NC.  We are a non-profit 501(c)3 entity.  This contest encourages creative minds to explore all possibilities for planning an alternative use of one of the largest remaining untouched land areas left on the east coast. It is on the west bank of the Cape Fear River just before it enters the Atlantic Ocean. Entries will be independently judged by an impartial panel including professionals (architects, engineers, scientists), local business owners and average citizens.  Entry forms and information about the 600 acre NC State Ports Authority property is available at www.noportsouthport.org.  Prizes are $500 for first place, $300 for second place and $100 for third place.  All entries will be exhibited at our community meeting where the winner will be announced on June 25 at the Community Building in Southport, NC at 7:00 PM.
