Submit your ideas for new possibilities for what lies beneath and around Highway 280 in San Francisco. In Spring 2013, Mayor Ed Lee announced an exploration of the potential of removing the elevated Highway 280 north of 16th Street. The tradition of removing freeways is not a new one for San Francisco, as the City has enjoyed a renaissance of two neighborhoods, the Embarcadero and Hayes Valley, through freeway demolition that healed scarred communities and transformed our relationships with these areas.
This competition is open to artists, designers, architects, students, and urban planners. Entry is free, and up to $10,000 will be awarded in prizes.
