Singapore: Archifest 2013 Pavilion Design Competition
Now Open for Submission
Registration Deadline: Thursday 6 June, 2013
Closing Date: Friday 21 June 2013, 12pm
Following a successful sixth installation of Archifest in 2012, the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) brings Singapore’s annual festival of ideas about the city back for another edition to explore a brand new theme: “Small is Beautiful”. Through the lens of the theme, Archifest 2013 will use the city as a laboratory and frame Singapore as an urban ecosystem beyond singular architectural projects. It will explore and celebrate projects, design studios, communities and ideas that might be small by choice and circumstance but are large in ambition and impact.
With the competition held in its second year, the Archifest 2013 Pavilion is envisioned to be the physical manifestation of the spirit of Archifest as a celebration of ideas of the city. It is imagined to be a temporary, outdoor recreational venue, which reinvents our experience of a public space in Singapore, providing a comfortable, unique and multi-sensorial experience of the city to be enjoyed by everyone. For Archifest 2013, Dhoby Ghaut Green becomes the canvas for the pavilion. Here, we hope that the Pavilion will enhance the experience of the park, turning it into a space of not only creative expression but also gathering with an injection of new innovative programs to activate the space.
