In the spirit of public discourse, the University of Chicago chapter of Students for a Democratic Society is seeking alternative proposals for the Milton Friedman Institute for Economic Research. You may approach the proposal however you like, including (but certainly not limited to) completely redesigning the site and/or creating new organizations to inhabit the space.

The U of C is currently seeking $200 million in donations for the MFI’s endowment; please treat that sum as your hypothetical budget for capital and operating costs.

Because our goal is promoting discussion about the MFI rather than heralding the best proposal, submissions will be shared with the public through this website, public events and printed materials.

If you plan to submit a proposal, we request you email (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) with your contact information at your earliest convenience. Doing so will also allow us to notify you if additional resources become available for the project.

All proposals should be submitted electronically to (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) by April 24, 2009. Questions about the RFP may also be emailed to the same address.
