The Pavilion Project is a competition that aims to become an annual celebration of architecture in the grounds of UWA.

In its inaugural year, the winner of the competition will design and oversee construction of a pavilion to provide shelter for people of the Indian Ocean Rim.

The winning pavilion will be built at the University and will be on display during the Perth International Arts Festival in February 2011.

Project brief
Under the project brief, and competition rules, the competition:
      * is open to graduate architects and designers (early career) who meet the eligibility criteria
      * focuses on the Indian Ocean Rim
      * promotes the principles of sustainable ‘green’ design.

Winner
Travel and accommodation in Perth during construction, will be offered to the winning graduate architect or designer, along with US$10,000 (AUD$12,290) and a mentorship with a Western Australian-based architectural firm.

The future of architecture
Through challenging designers to meet the needs of shelter for the poor and people dispossessed by natural and political events, the Pavilion Project opens a window onto the future of architecture.

Awarded annually, the project will bring the best of contemporary architecture to Perth and will provide a designer with the opportunity to present their work to a wide audience.
