Architecture and the City is the nation’s largest architectural event showcasing tours, films, exhibitions, lectures, green programming and more. Last year, more than 20,000 people, from all over the world, took part in the festivities devoted to celebrating San Francisco’s unique built environment and design community. Currently, we are seeking submissions for the central exhibition: Urban RE:Interventions.

Urban RE:Interventions explores perspectives on the urban environment through the lens of architects, designers, landscape architects and urban guerillas. From small-scale moments at the street level to large-scale imagineering of the city of San Francisco as a whole, the exhibition will re-envision how awkward spaces can be made beautiful. Submissions may be theoretical or built.

Projects showcased in the exhibition will highlight how place-making can improve the way people move through and engage with urban spaces at every scale. Whether it’s a park bench or a city- wide master plan, submissions may consider issues of circulation, connection, re-appropriation, transition, ecology, or technology.

Selected entries cannot have been previously published and should include a thoughtful description of how this intervention contributes to a strong sustainable, neighborhood or community context.
