Win a Free Place at the 2009 CABE Urban Design Summer School

Tell us about your favourite new place and win a free place at the 2009 CABE urban design summer school in Bristol!

Great places tend to have common qualities that contribute to their success and make them ‘feel right’. Often older streets and squares develop and change, becoming an essential part of our towns and cities. What is more difficult is to create a new place that is as successful as ones that have been tested through time. However, we know these places exist and we want to know about your favourite new place - the place you think will stand the test of time.

By the 30 January 2009, email or send a single photograph that you have taken of a place built in the last 10 years or so, and explain in no more than 100 words why you feel it is so successful. A judging panel will review all entries that adhere to the above guidelines and they will announce the winning entry on 30 January 2009. The selection will be based on:

• the quality of the place depicted in your photograph
• how convincingly you describe the success of the place in urban design terms.

The best entries will be showcased here on the summer school website. The winner will be awarded a free place at this year’s summer school*
