Call for Entries: ARCHITECT's Ninth Annual R+D Awards
Architecture is about more than what can be captured in photographs and renderings. It’s also about solving problems with ingenuity, collaborating across disciplines to overcome challenges, inventing products to address a need, streamlining workflows with technology, and using design to improve society as a whole.
To celebrate the building research, materials, and technologies that are revolutionizing the process and product of architecture, ARCHITECT announces its ninth annual R+D Awards. The program honors innovation in architecture at every scale—from novel design and construction strategies, to advanced building systems and details, to must-have products and digital tools, and even to newfound building typologies that are changing entire cities.
The R+D Awards program welcomes entries of all types to encourage the broadest possible dialogue among architects, engineers, manufacturers, researchers, students, and designers of all disciplines. Past winners have included small firms, large firms, individuals, academics, fabricators, and manufacturers.
NEW THIS YEAR: The submission process is completely digital! No last-minute rush to the post office or FedEx. Also, the awards program is open to entrants from around the world; however, building products should be commercially available in the U.S.
Start today by registering and preparing your submissions—all it takes is a 500-word abstract and up to 20 supporting images that tell your entry’s story. Keep it simple. Make it compelling. Finalize your submission online by April 24 (UPDATED!) and pay $175 to register the first entry, and $95 for each subsequent entry. It’s fine if you need a few extra days, but the fee goes up by $50 per entry.
DEADLINES (EXTENDED!)
Regular: Friday, April 24, 2015
Late: Wednesday, April 29, 2015 (requires an additional fee of $50 per entry)

Good luck! We can't wait to see what you’re contributing to the future of architecture and design.
