AIA Detroit Chapter’s Urban Priorities Committee is pleased to announce DETROIT by DESIGN 2012: an International Ideas Competition; open to students and professionals world-wide. The project site consists of the area between Cobo Hall and the Renaissance Center and between Jefferson Avenue and the Detroit River, including Hart Plaza, the Ford Auditorium site, the International Border Crossing and the parking structure between Bates St. and Renaissance Drive. DETROIT by DESIGN has assembled a distinguished group of Urban Designers, Architects, Landscape Architects, and Local Authorities to judge the competition. They include Daniel Libeskind, Walter Hood, Reed Kroloff, Faye Alexander Nelson, and Lola Sheppard. Registration opens on August 1, 2012. Proposals are due by 5:00 p.m. EST on Friday, November 30, 2012.  An accompanying symposium is scheduled for Thursday, December 6, 2012.
