Nelson Mandela Memorial Design Competition

The goal of the Nelson Mandela Memorial Design Competition is to elicit the most creative and exceptional designs for this significant public memorial project. We envision a memorial that will support the education and inspiration of our youth, initiating the kind of dialogue and activism that will ensure Nelson Mandela’s legacy continues to drive positive change.

Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park and Chapel of the Chimes, in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the Oakland chapter of the NAACP are pleased to announce a contest to design a permanent memorial honoring the legacy of Nelson Mandela. The monument will be constructed of granite, bronze, or a combination thereof, and will reside at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo, California.
