If you were offered a little piece of your neighborhood for 48 hours, what would you do with it?
If you have an idea you're itching to text out, here's your chance. In April 2016 FORM is organizing a two-day prototyping festival as part of its PUBLIC program.
In 2016 PUBLIC ideas go into action with PUBLIC Platform taking creativity for the common good out into the streets and laneways. PUBLIC Platform invites you – the diverse creative minds from all parts of our community – to create installations and activation prototypes to enliven Claremont town centre during PUBLIC’s annual takeover on 2 & 3 April.
Prototypes for citizens and by citizens will reimagine our public spaces and activities, and engage the public to participate, explore and play in their own city. Your big idea could bring our streets to life.
Entries are due Jan 25, so sign up now for more information or to attend a briefing. Email platform@form.net.au to register.
FORM is an independent, non-profit cultural organisation that develops and leverages creativity for community transformation and the cultural enrichment of Western Australia.
In 2014, FORM kicked off the multi-year PUBLIC festival, inviting 50 artists to paint 40 walls and buildings in Perth and the Pilbara. For PUBLIC’s second year, in 2015, FORM facilitated the transformation of 70 walls in neighbourhoods across Perth and Fremantle, the Wheatbelt and the Pilbara.
Last year’s PUBLIC festival included a symposium featuring 26 national and international trailblazers discussing transformation of cities and communities through creativity, connection and innovation. Ideas from PUBLIC Symposium and the PUBLICation cataloguing PUBLIC 2015 have just been released, sharing the insights and inspiration that sparked many to action and will inform next year’s program at http://public.form.net.au.
PUBLIC 2015 highlighted the power of the public in shaping their own neighbourhoods. In 2016, PUBLIC will launch Platform; a two-day prototyping festival inviting creatives of all kinds to reimagine our public spaces and activities, creating installations or activation prototypes for citizens and by citizens of the city that inspire investigation, connection, stimulation and delight. PUBLIC will also introduce The Goods Shed -an epicenter for art and ideas, a shared space fuelled by connections between different creatives and the community. PUBLIC Campus will bring important international and Australian urban artists to Curtin University to create a concentration of large scale murals and enliven its spaces for public enjoyment. This is the Campus as our city’s own playground exploration, a hotbed of creativity.
