“Architecture is not about form but formations of people” – Markus Jung Architecture is about people; from the moment we are born into a room, each of us will have a distinct and personal relationship with the space around us. It is in architecture that we work and rest, it’s where we fall in love, where we protest; architecture changes behaviour, it unites and divides, provides shelter and inspiration. In 2015, three Creative Directors from across Melbourne’s metropolitan architecture schools will come together to host the first Student Architecture Congress in the city since 1964. Amidst a backdrop of expanding populations, urban migration and tightening purse strings; we invite you to join us on a journey around the city as we seek to investigate questions of spatial relations, architectural anthropology, humanitarian architecture, advocacy and intervention. As congress directors we have designed each element of this congress; the venues, speakers, program, and social events to resonate both with the congress theme and its setting. We have constructed a Congress that is very much in and of the city of Melbourne; peering behind the facade, to expose and share what we love about the city. We are excited to bring you a range of speakers from across four continents including Australia. Each of these is positioned to contribute a unique perspective around the theme of people through the varied lenses of their own particular practice. See the speakers and program page for more information. - 2015 Congress Creative Directors Mercedes Mambort, Tim Randall and Darcy Zelenko http://wp.architecture.com.au/people/home/
