Join us in honoring Judith Rodin, winner of the 2015 Edmund N. Bacon Prize for her continuing contributions to the built environment. Dr. Rodin is currently president of the Rockefeller Foundation in New York and was formerly president of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Daily News Editorial Page Editor, Sandra Shea, will engage Dr. Rodin in an engaging conversation on stage about designing resilient structures, systems, and cities. Also honored at this ceremony will be the student winners of the 2015 Better Philadelphia Challenge, an urban design competition in honor of Ed Bacon. This year's challenge focused on Petty Island and how it might be developed to support its surrounding communities while taking into consideration the realities of climate change in the tidal Delaware River. Join us before the ceremony at 5:30pm for our VIP reception which will feature heavy hors d'oeuvres, wine, beer, and live music. In attendance will be Dr. Rodin, the student winners, local dignitaries, and our invaluable sponsors, without whom this program would not be possible. The ceremony will be followed by a coffee + dessert reception for all attendees featuring a book signing with Dr. Rodin. Her new book, The Resilience Dividend: Being Strong in a World Where Things Go Wrong, explores how people, organizations, businesses, communities, and cities have developed resilience in the face of otherwise catastrophic challenges. http://philadelphiacfa.org/events/2015-edmund-n-bacon-prize-talk
