MoMA PS1 Courtyard, 22-25 Jackson Ave, Long Island City Meet in front of the museum entry kiosk, at the intersection of 46th Ave & Jackson Ave. This is a special after-hours event and MoMA PS1 courtyard will only be open to our group. The AIANY Interiors Committee invites you to join AIA members at MoMA PS1 for a private, after-hours tour of Hy-Fi. You will get close and personal with Hy-Fi, a temporary urban landscape installation, located in the MoMA PS1 Courtyard. John Locke, Associate at The Living (winner of the MoMA PS1 Young Architects Program) and the Project lead for Hy-Fi, will lead an intimate tour of Hy-Fi. Praised for its use of biological technologies in its design and its environmental cognizance resulting in a structure that is 100% organic material, Hy-Fi’s organic and reflective bricks made of cornstalks and root structures produce a combination of circular towers with almost no waste, energy needs, or carbon emissions. The towers are calibrated to create a cool micro-climate in the summer by drawing cool air at the bottom and pushing out hot air at the top. Additionally, Hy-Fi’s presence in the MoMa PS1 courtyard creates social zones activated by shade, color, light and views.
