AIA New York’s annual Design Awards Program recognizes outstanding architectural design by New York City-based architects, designers, landscape architects, and planners and exemplary work in New York City by those practicing anywhere in the world. The purpose of the awards program is to honor the architects, clients, and consultants who work together to achieve design excellence in New York and around the globe.
The 2012 Design Awards feature four categories: Architecture, Interiors, Urban Design, and Un-built Work. Internationally prominent three-person juries evaluated the 391 entries for design quality, program resolution, innovation, thoughtfulness, and originality. The independent juries determined the number of awards given in each category and selected award recipients. This year, “honor” and “merit” awards were given to thirty-six projects.
