How and when did this boundary between the disciplines establish itself? When does the boundary between the two fields blur? Is scale of intervention a catalyst of the re-definition of this boundary? How is Art impacted by the built environment and the context? How is Architecture impacted by the insertion of Art? Are shared technology and methods of fabrication bringing the two spheres back together? How does an architect operate in the fields of Industrial Design, Apparel, Graphic Design and how does that differ from cross-pollination with the sphere of Art. How do artists and designers perceive cross-disciplinary collaboration? Or the potential dissolution of such constructs as disciplines. WHO: MODERATOR: Wendy Feuer – Assist. Commissioner for Urban Design & Art at the NYC DOT SPEAKERS Dror Benshetrit – founder at Dror Studio - http://www.studiodror.com/home/ Archie Lee coates IV – Founder at Playlab - http://playlab.org/ Allen Sayegh – Founder at INVIVIA - http://www.invivia.com/ Seher Shah – Artist - http://www.sehershah.net/ Louis Becker - Principal at Henning Larsen Architects - http://www.henninglarsen.com about Global Dialogues ‘s 2015 theme: ARCHITECT, d.b.a. In a world of specialization, how does a profession based on a broad cross disciplinary foundation define itself? AIANY Global Dialogues 2015 will focus on initiatives affecting the global built environment from points of view at the periphery of practice. We will look at fields outside the normative that stretch the definition and purpose of the architect around the world as well as ways in which architecture can become a means for a goal beyond itself. Organizers: AIANY Global Dialogues Committee Chairs: Dan Gallagher AIA and Hana Kassem AIA, LEEP AP
