Embodied Rationality seeks to overcome a subject-centered understanding of rationality, and thus transcend the dichotomy between contemplation and action.
The process of creativity is a combination of both. This exhibit is a look into a generation of artists with no national borders, whose practices are as varied as the mediums that they have chosen. With disciplines that include sculpture made from marble, yarn, and recycled skateboards, cellphone camera photographs or acrylic on canvas, and drawings, photography, and collage, the artists are fearless of the different materials available to them, yet the works dialogue among each other in a natural way.
The Back Gallery Project’s first exhibits were on South Granville Street, behind the Monte Clark Gallery, and from there moved to 109 W Cordova Street. Abbott Street is now the current gallery location.
