- Berlin.SCAPES:LAB / Discursive Turns Application deadline: April, 25th 2015. Apply here: http://berlinscapeslab.blogspot.com/p/application.html - SCAPES:LAB platform with it’s vast experience gathered throughout the previous years, sets it’s focus on Berlin. We are launching our first Berlin.SCAPES:LAB as a year-long urban pedagogy programme aimed at critical reading of rich variety of the city´s urban narratives. During the temporarily framed agenda (May 2015 - March 2016), we will synchronize different inputs into a purposeful argumentation. Research is structured trough a chain of following phases: Phase_0: TEAM BUILDING / February - May 2015 Our research unit will team up the vibrant group of students and young professionals with background in Architecture and Urban planning, Urban sociology, Scene design, Anthropology, Economy and Political sciences from Serbia (Novi Sad, Belgrade and Niš), Macedonia (Skopje and Bitola), Montenegro (Podgorica) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (Sarajevo and Banja Luka), featuring many guests from Berlin. Phase_1: READING / May - July 2015 Through a series of reading, debates, screenings and discussions we will find-and-trace both existing and emerging urban identities, phenomena, policies, practices and theories and their relation to a social, political and economic city portrait. SCAPES:LAB expanding network of collaborations will be engaged in reading, research, analysis and argumentation on significant set of discursive turns that are shaping (current) urban circumstances of Berlin. Reader can be found here - http://issuu.com/centar.arhitekture/docs/berlin_scapes_lab Phase_2: MAPPING / July - September 2015 We will produce a case study map including a collection of essays, conclusions, hypothesis, research papers and finally, Do-It-Together research material in a form of a Book of Findings. These will jointly form a basis that will be evaluated through the on-site inspection. Draft map can be found here - http://berlinscapeslab.blogspot.com/p/mapping.html Phase_3: IN SITU VISIT / October 2015 An on-site study exploration of Berlin is scheduled for mid-October 2015 - bringing a contextually largely different (mind) set-up for thinking Berlin. During the intensive 5-day stay in Berlin, we will organize several debates and a conference; visit and exchange outputs with some of the most relevant studios, architecture offices, institutes, independent researchers, activists and schools; build and expand our existing network; visit specific buildings and territories and make critical reflections together with protagonists in-situ. The list of collaborators will be expanded through time and according to our findings in phase 1 (Reading) and phase 2 (Mapping), aiming to provide relevant content-based analysis. Agenda draft: http://berlinscapeslab.blogspot.com/p/in-situ.html _ 4: ARCHIVING / November 2015 - March 2016 Collected data will serve as a referential material for codifying the themes and ideas for (Berlin) city life or as a scale of progress “it” has achieved. We will evaluate in many ways and form a book-map-blog-azine to be used in further research, analysis and critical explorations.
