Michael R. Fletcher, Commercial Segment Manager, BASF - Center for Excellence in Building. Michael Fletcher was promoted to serve as the manager of the commercial market segment for The Center for Building Excellence, a dedicated construction resource for strategic partners to tap into BASF‘s global network and expertise. Michael leads a team that works with architects, engineers, and construction professionals, leveraging applied building science and chemistry to accelerate the adoption of sustainable, affordable solutions for design and construction challenges. He is actively engaged in industry initiatives focused on disclosure and transparency as it relates to chemistry in building materials and has been nationally recognized for his efforts to promote sustainable development.
Chemical giant BASF has been a supplier to the construction industry for most of its 150-year history.
Brooke Weizmann, Manager of Sustainability, North America for BASF. Brooke oversees internal and external relations for BASF's North American sustainability program. It is her work to both promote BASF as a key value chain partner for more sustainable products and catalyze engagement and sustainability knowledge internally. Brooke manages strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, external sustainability consortia, consumer brands, retailers and professional sports teams, building awareness of the BASF brand and its innovations. Brooke is frequently a speaker and sustainability advocate, participating in external sustainability events around the globe and representing BASF. In addition, she oversees all North American employee engagement activities for sustainability in the region.
Vivian Kuan, Executive Director, Terreform ONE. Vivian is an architect with a unique interdisciplinary background in art, architecture, entrepreneurial marketing, internet startups and a strong interest going forward in improving our environment through impactful ecological design and education. Prior to Terreform One, Vivian was a Launch Director at the internet incubator, idealab! and later directed the online strategy and ecommerce business units for the Estee Lauder Companies, Inc. and for The L’Oreal Group Inc. Before that, Vivian worked as an architect in Taiwan, Hong Kong, as well as in New York City for Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates.
Changing the face of architecture and the process of design, Terreform ONE, Inc. is a New York City premier architectural design office. Through their creative projects and outreach efforts, they are illuminating the environmental possibilities of New York City and inspiring solutions in areas like it around the world. Terreform ONE is also a unique laboratory for scientists, artists, architects, students, and individuals of all backgrounds to explore and advance the larger framework of green design. The group develops innovative solutions and technologies for local sustainability in energy, transportation, infrastructure, buildings, waste treatment, food, and water.
Terreform Co-Founder and Director of Research. Mitchell Joachim, was chosen by Wired magazine for The Smart List, and selected by Rolling Stone for The 100 People Who Are Changing America. Mitchell won many awards including; AIA New York Urban Design Merit Award, 1st Place International Architecture Award, Victor Papanek Social Design Award, Zumtobel Group Award for Sustainability.
