CAS Sustainable Architecture in India This program is designed for professionals and postgraduate students from architecture, planning and engineering background, from all over the world, for a period of 4 weeks in India. The course would be held in Auroville and Bangalore. The course focuses on learning and experiencing in intercultural and interdisciplinary environments about technology, design, sustainability, optimal resource use and culture. Other acquired learning is various social and language skills. The participants will gain from Indian and Swiss experts on technical solutions and working strategies in a hybrid system. The project is based on issues in a developing country and is a mix of professional and personal experiences. The programme starts with a one-week excursion from Pondicherry to Bangalore. The excursion is to introduce cultural, social and economic diversity in South India. Part of the excursion is a four days workshop in Auroville to learn about sustainable techniques and see built examples. We learn from renowned experts, basic elements of sustainability like technology, local material (mud, bamboo) and resources (water, energy). At Bangalore, we aim to work on sustainable concepts for a live site for three weeks. The work in Bangalore is intercepted by inputs and lectures by professionals from architecture, engineering, infrastructure, environment and urban planning. Bangalore is an urban laboratory. We use this as a catalyst to create hybrids. This programme is scheduled that the participants could continue their stay in India with individual trips. IN:CH team will help them with information. Only first 10 valid applications will be considered. Learning Basics and concepts for sustainable architecture and urban settlements. Course Structure Starts with one-week excursion and workshop on sustainable architecture through economic, ecological and social aspects. 3 weeks work in intercultural and interdisciplinary groups on sustainable concepts and strategies. Coaching from professionals from India and Switzerland. Lectures, discussions and juries with top experts. A chance to have hands on experience with sustainable materials on site.
