Common Boston Weekend

Friday, Jun 19, 20093 AM — Monday, Jun 22, 20095 AMEDT

Boston, MA | Boston, MA

The time has come to celebrate all things architecture and design in Boston. Common Boston Weekendour city's only free, public festival of neighborhoods and designis June 18 through 21. More than 40 open buildings, neighborhood tours, exhibits and events are concentrated around four Boston neighborhoods: Ashmont, Jamaica Plain, Chinatown and Fort Point Channel. In Ashmont, highlights include a tour of Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance headquarters, "Food in the City" and a DotBike tour of the neighborhood's landscape and architecture. In Jamaica Plain, there's a brewery tour, JP Greenhouse's open house, a guided stroll through Arnold Arboretum, a Hyde Square Task Force presentation and more. Join us in Chinatown as we take an audio tour of Berkeley Street community gardens, devour dim sum with Nadine Nelson, cover the future of Chinatown housing, tour affordable-housing advocate Gatehouse and other fun, free events. An Artists for Humanity Epicenter tour, photography discussion with Peter Vanderwarker, a drop-in box-city build geared towards families and a Boston Children's Museum tour are just a few of the events you'll find in Fort Point Channel. All events are free and open to the public; some require pre-registration. View a complete schedule at www.commonboston.org/cb09.
