Design Can Change the World

Wednesday, May 12, 20104 AMEDT

ADC Gallery, 106 West 29th Street New York, NY | ADC Gallery, 106 West 29th Street New York, NY

"Design Can Change the World" is a special speaker sponsored by the Art Directors Club, Adobe Systems and Project H Design, taking place next Tuesday, May 11 at the ADC Gallery in NYC. Founded and run by Emily Pilloton, Project H Design connects the power of design to the people who need it most, and the places where it can make a real and lasting difference. Emily recently traveled 6,300 miles across the United States on the Design Revolution Roadshow, showcasing 40 products that designed to change the world. She will discuss their findings and their initiatives, how it all relates to design, and how creatives can join the revolution. Joining Emily will be Lynn Grillo, Manager, Creative Products at Adobe Systems, who will discuss how the right technology tools can help designers reach more people, more effectively, in more places. Details: Tuesday May 11, 2010 @ADC Gallery, 106 West 29th, NYC 6:30-7:00pm: Drinks and hors d'oeuvres 7:00pm: Speaker Event ADC Members: FREE, Non Members: $15.00, Students: $5.00 All admission fees from this event go directly to the ADC scholarship fund. To buy a ticket, please visit http://www.adcglobal.org/adc/events/calendar/#175 About Product H Design Product design initiatives for Humanity, Habitats, Health, and Happiness. Project H Design connects the power of design to the people who need it most, and the places where it can make a real and lasting difference. We are a team of designers, architects, and builders engaging locally through partnerships with social service organizations, communities, and schools to improve the quality of life for the socially overlooked. Our five-tenet design process (There is no design without action; We design WITH, not FOR; We document, share and measure; We start locally and scale globally, We design systems, not stuff) results in simple and effective design solutions for those without access to creative capital. Our scalable long-term initiatives focus on improving environments, services, products, and experiences for youth and K-12 education institutions in the US through systems-level design thinking and deep community engagements. WE BELIEVE DESIGN CAN CHANGE THE WORLD. Project H is a California-based nonprofit with a second location in Bertie County, North Carolina that focuses on Design For Education initiatives. We are a 501c3 organization; all donations made after January 8, 2008 are tax-deductible. For more information, please visit http://projecthdesign.org/index.html
