Architects are designing in the communities they live in around the world. Though they bring technical expertise to the work, they often lack community development skills that are important to effecting change on the ground. Now is the time to begin training architects to become community developers and leaders. At Design Like You Give a Damn: LIVE! we will share the tools and knowledge needed to bring architects to the decision-making table. Be a catalyst for sustainable community development. Join us to share your knowledge and participate in a showcase of innovative design and one-on-one workshops. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 15 Opening Event and Cocktail Reception RSVP Required • 4:30-7pm The 2010 Curry Stone Design Prize finalists present on their nominated designs. Presentations will followed by a cocktail reception. RSVP to attend this event SATURDAY, OCTOBER 16 Workshops and Design Open Mic Registration Required • 12-6pm (ongoing) Design Open Mic An opportunity for humanitarian designers to share their work with the public through informal presentation and conversation throughout the day. Sign up to showcase your work • 1-2pm Workshop: Innovative Financing Models Learn best practices for innovative financing of international humanitarian design projects • 3-4pm Workshop: Successful Monitoring and Evaluation Practices Hear how to effectively monitor and evaluate international humanitarian design projects • 5-6pm Workshop: The Client Perspective on Community Design Clients speak about their experiences benefiting from community-led design from the ground level, lessons learned and the way forward • 6-8pm Closing Cocktail Reception Reception following the presentations and day's events. All are invited to celebrate. WORKSHOP REGISTRATION $20 general admission I $30 day of the event $15 students I $20 day of the event Architecture for Humanity
