USC SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE PRESENTS EXPO 2015, APRIL 30 – MAY 1 https://arch.usc.edu/ After several years of holding final studio reviews at off-site locations around the city as “Blue Tape,” the USC School of Architecture has come back to campus in full-force to present EXPO 2015, a week-long program of final reviews, discussions, and an exhibition of work from over 60 design studios, spanning graduate and undergraduate programs. The title, EXPO, comes from neighboring Exposition Park and signifies a return to the grounds of USC. Intended as an expose of the inner workings of the school, student work will be exhibited both inside and outside using the surfaces of the school as a background for a variety of disciplines and course types examining the most relevant and pressing issues facing architecture, digital technology, sustainability, urban design, landscape architecture, building science, and heritage conservation. In addition to hosting guest jurors from around the country and from abroad, EXPO 2015 will also welcome a “Super Jury” made up of some of the most accomplished and important figures in architecture. The 2015 Super Jury includes: Reed Kroloff, principal at Jones/Kroloff, former director of the Cranbrook Academy of Art, former Dean of Architecture at Tulane University in New Orleans, and former editor-in-chief for Architecture magazine Barbara Bestor, founder and principal of Bestor Architecture Florian Idenburg, co-founder of the award-winning design firm SO-IL in New York City Elizabeth Mossup, director at Spackman Mossup Michaels, an award-winning landscape architecture and urban design firm based in New Orleans and director of the School of Landscape Architecture at Louisiana State University Andrew Zago, partner and founder of Zago Architecture in Los Angeles As part of the week-long series of events, this Super Jury will be featured in a panel discussion focusing on current issues that are central to the discipline of architecture. Bridging the worlds of design, theory, and technology, EXPO 2015 is a vital cultural forum for advanced thinking and debates on new modes of architecture and the built environment.
