First Friday
BKSK Architects
Join BKSK Architects at their office for drinks, informal conversation, and a behind-the-scenes look at recent and upcoming projects. This program is part of First Friday, a monthly opportunity for League members to visit the offices of leading design practices to see work on the boards and learn more about the offices’ organization and design processes. These informal social gatherings feature happy hour drinks arranged by the host office.
Founded in 1985, BKSK Architects is a 6-partner, 50-person New York City-based firm specializing in design that is socially, contextually, and ecologically engaged. The firm’s diverse portfolio of work includes award-winning cultural, civic, educational, liturgical, and residential projects including a non-profit children’s theater in New York City, a library and learning center in a remote Senegalese village, and a 14-story residential tower in New York’s SoHo neighborhood. Individual projects designed by the firm have received over 50 design awards, including an AIA National Housing Award for a new multi-family development, an AIA Committee on the Environment (COTE) Award for a LEED Platinum-certified visitor center, and three Palladio Awards for contemporary architecture inspired by traditional design theory.
