Public officials, health professionals, architects, developers, and design professionals will speak on how building design and urban policy decisions increase physical activity and help to prevent chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and asthma.
The conference will present the new New York City Active Design Guidelines. Jointly developed by the Departments of Design and Construction, Health and Mental Hygiene, Transportation, and City Planning, the Guidelines will advise architects, designers, and planners on how to incorporate physical activity-promoting design components into their projects.

Private sector architects, developers, and public relations experts will also discuss how these guidelines can be used.
