Glenn Murcutt, awarded the Pritzker Prize in 2002 and Australia's most prominent architect, applies his creativity solely to smaller projects that enable him to work alone and to conserve the environmental framework with projects that blend into their setting. His buildings are all to be found in Australia. The exhibition presents a selection of his realized project — primarily private houses —and approaches his special method of working as "thinking in drawings". Drawings represent an essential instrument of discovery in his work: the hand that completes the drawing reaches solutions long before these have been worked out by the intellect. The photographs by Anthony Bowell provide a testimonial to the harmony between the buildings and nature. Long before the international trend towards sustainability Murcutt had long anticipated it in his own architectural principles. Architekturzentrum Wien
