The RIBA and The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment host a debate on the role of the architect in global development practice and community sustainability.

From Masdar to Dongtan the rapidly expanding economies of the developing world are shaping new cities at unprecedented speed and scale. Western ‘starchitects’ and practices have been popular choices for signature buildings and masterplanning in both the Middle and Far East. Will the focus remain on imported approaches or will there be a shift in to more local solutions?

Practitioners and planners from the Middle East and China join Hank Dittmar, Chief Executive of the Princes Foundation, for this facilitated debate.
