Expressive and efficient structures are gaining architectural significance as they become prominent landmarks for local areas. In this lecture, Holger Schulze-Ehring of Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) will explain the principles of forms and structures and explores approaches where structural form supports and enhances architecture beyond its primary function. Schulze-Ehring will discuss how the creative selection of form or structure can provide effective solutions to modern buildings and structures. Schulze-Ehring previously worked for Santiago Calatrava in Zurich, Switzerland. In his work, he applies his expertise in advanced engineering and architecture to the design of unique, inventive, and complex structures. He has seamlessly and elegantly blended structural engineering with architects' design intents to produce many stunning, award-winning projects, including the World Trade Center (WTC) Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) Transportation Hub, Denver International Airport extension, Museu do Amanhã, and the Salerno Marina d'Arechi & Bridge. http://cooper.edu/events-and-exhibitions/events/free-lecture-form-follows-function-structure-and-architectural-concept
