▼IFAC’14 It is the acronym of InternatioNal Festival of Art and Construction, it takes place from 11 to 20 August 2014 in Covarrubias, Burgos, (Spain) a medieval village of 627 people. IFAC is a space where exchange creative work and party atmosphere. 300 youngsters from all around the world with some relation to art and architecture whom will live together for 10 days, where debate, work and interchange experiences in a context of analysis and recovery of rural areas. ▼ OBJETIVES IFAC is an initiative which’s aim is to: -Support avant-garde artistic and technological creations. -Reverse aggressive over-consumption tendencies. -Spread and encourage self-sufficient practices. -Experience alternative building methods. -Exploring and research of ways towards self-sufficiency. ▼ DYNAMICS The working dynamic has three basic principles: -Practical education: We don’t believe in the knowledge lineal transmision. The participants rotation througth the workshops allows them to attend as much as they want,. Combining the workshops allow to overcome the barriers of time, place or prejudice. -Creative freedom: free expression is encouraged by the free access to all the material and tools. This became into espontaneous creations and initiatives, uniques and unpredictables. -Collective enrichment: IFAC is an exchange of knowledge and experience. In a horizontal atmosphere, each one takes active parto in the workshops decissions, so this build the basics fofr a collective thinking througt the principles of cooperation, integration and dialogue. ▼ PROGRAM Ifac’14 looks for the integration of disciplines and creative approaches in order to generate participatory experiences of non-formal learning processes, breaking the traditional lineal teaching and learning methods. For this purpose, critical thought, praxis and party environments are combined with a blury border delimiting these fields. Acordingly, there are no student-teachers relationship with rigid schedules, nor preset days to choose a workshop based on the last ID number. This allows participants to attend as many workshops as they want, choose one or several. They are able to rotate, according to their interests.. ▼ WORKSHOPS Among all the Ifac’14 activities, workshops occupy most of the time. They are the core of the work and learning experience. The workshops have participatory methodologies, each one proposes a course of actions that engages participants in decision-making. There are four workshops categories with different nature and working dynamics. -Constructive ws: Self-sufficient constructions out of natural and traditional techniques with new visions about design and technical implementation. -Prototyping: Material and technique explorations knowing the starting point but not always the result. -Plastic & audiovisual: They are prototypes which emphasize more plastic or visual aspects. -Theoretical: Related to the identity exploitation and the contemporary role of rural areas, they explore and locate the aspects that make up the identity and generated by the operation. The participant can choose to attend as many workshops as they want, combine or hybridize to their will. Then each participant makes his own ifac experience. If the number of participants is considerably less than 300, the workshops will be reduced proportionally. ▼ EVENTS Art instalations, night music concerts, lectures, pechacuchas, yoga, debates, tours & trips, parties, final exhibition… There will be at least three parties in order to create a warm atmosphere beyond the purely didactic program.
