In Dialogue With The World

Saturday, Jan 19, 20137:55 AM — Monday, Mar 11, 20136:55 AMEDT

Danish Architecture Centre, Strandgade 27B Copenhagen, Denmark | Danish Architecture Centre, Strandgade 27B Copenhagen, Denmark

The exhibition "In dialogue with the world – architecture by Henning Larsen Architects, schmidt hammer lassen architects and ADEPT" shows how today's architects are bound by many other considerations than the purely aesthetic, when they create their buildings. image In this exhibition three distinguished Danish architecture companies - Henning Larsen Architects, schmidt hammer lassen architects and ADEPT - invite us to listen to their personal, uncensored accounts of what it is like to work in the field of architecture in the 21st century. They will describe how they relate to citizens, culture, history and urban structures, when they design new architecture. Architecture transforms everyday life For example, schmidt hammer lassen architects show how the bleak social reality of London was crucial in their design of a new school, which transformed the everyday life of the area's youngsters. New relations between buildings and citizens The architecture practice ADEPT show how they directly integrated the diverse wishes of residents into the design of a new cultural centre in Frederiksberg. A living, breathing design studio Meanwhile, Henning Larsen Architects have chosen to move their work into the heart of the exhibition, transforming their space into a living, breathing design studio for the duration of the exhibition. Students from the Royal Danish Academy's School of Architecture, in consultation with the public, will work on new proposals for the future layout of Copenhagen. Experience the many aspects of contemporary architecture Together these three architecture companies will give us a rare opportunity to experience the many aspects of contemporary architecture, which are not otherwise immediately visible: the many complex relationships to which the architect must commit, before the architecture can take its final shape. Exhibition at the Danish Architecture Centre 18 January - 10 March 2013 Free english guided tour of the exhibition: Sunday 17 February and 24 February at 2PM - 3PM. Danish Architecture Centre
