This event is part of the METALS IN CONSTRUCTION 2012 FACADES CONFERENCE. Creating the 21st-Century Facade: How architects and fabricators are advancing curtain wall design in the digital age. 1 Parametric Design, Gil Akos / Ronnie Parsons 9:00 - 1:00PM + 2:00 - 6:00PM This workshop introduces participants to the cultural, technological, and tectonic domain of parametric design and digital fabrication through the use of Grasshopper for Rhino. 2 Scripted Design, Skylar Tibbits 9:00 - 1:00PM + 2:00 - 6:00PM This workshop will provide an introduction to Python for Rhino. Topics covered will include: Running Scripts, Syntax, Data Types, Variables, Flow Control, Tuples/Lists/Dictionaries, Points/Vectors, Functions, Paneling and Recursion. The training will concentrate on IronPython within Rhino. 3 Revit Design, David Fano 9:00 - 1:00PM + 2:00 - 6:00PM This workshop builds from fundamental Revit design concepts to advanced techniques concentrating on how the formal and organizational potentials emerge from informational modeling. 4 Computational Design & 4D Sequencing, John D. Cerone & Hashim Sulieman 9:00 - 1:00PM + 2:00 - 6:00PM Session one will focus on basic parametric-rule based modeling that allows design variations and tests the limits of form. The second session is a step by step 4D construction sequencing model process. Software used: Catia/Digital Project; Rhinoceros; Navisworks® Manage; Microsoft project; Microsoft Excel. 5 Rhino Design, Kevin Patrick McClellan & Brad Bell 9:00 - 1:00PM + 2:00 - 6:00PM This workshop will cover user interface navigation and provide a broad understanding of the different tool sets and workflow options within the software. Step-by-step design problems will address both Solids Modeling, NURBS Modeling and documentation methods. Advanced techniques for complex geometries and the use of the paneling tools plug-in will be covered in the afternoon session. http://archpaper.com/conferences/facade/workshops.asp
